Frequent travellers name best airline and hotel in the world

Singapore Airlines has been voted the Best Airline in the World by frequent travellers in a survey published in this month’s Global Traveler magazine.  The survey, which 36,000 seasoned travellers took part in, looks for the best of the best in the world of travel across 66 different categories.

TAP Portugal was voted the Best Airline in Europe with Emirates taking the award for the Best Airline in the Middle East. Lufthansa triumphed in the Best Trans-Atlantic Airline category, with Air Canada winning the award for the Best Airline in North America.

In terms of food, Alitalia won the award for Best Airline Cuisine. If you’re considering flight connections you could do a lot worse than spending a few hours at Singapore’s Changi International Airport which won the award for Best Airport Dining. It’s pretty good for shopping too by the look of it, with over 300 shopping and dining outlets to keep you entertained.

The award for Best hotel in the United States went to The Peninsula BeverlyThe Peninsula Beverly Hills Hotel Hills, one of Hollywood’s most sophisticated hotels. The hotel has one of the most exclusive addresses in the area and is close to CBS Studios. All its luxurious rooms and suites have been renovated this year and guests can unwind at the Peninsula spa or take a dip in the rooftop pool complete with private cabanas, a jacuzzi and stunning views of the city and mountains. The hotel, well known for its discretion, is popular with celebrities so if you do stay here you may find yourself dining with stars from the world of TV and film.

The Address Downtown DubaiThe Address Hotel Downtown Dubai, a five star hotel overlooking the 30 acre Burj Khalifa Lake and Dubai Fountain, won the prized accolade of The Best Hotel in The World. The hotel is next to the largest mall in Dubai and rooms are large with great luxurious touches such as coffee machines and ipod docks. The hotel also has a deluxe spa and infinity pool and stunning views from its cocktail bar on the 63rd floor.
