Unique and stylish hotels
Choosing the right hotel can be difficult, especially when there are so many fantastic properties around the world. I decided to show you some of the more outstanding options available with my shortlist of the unique, the boutique and the downright beautiful – enjoy!
Elounda Gulf, Crete
A piece of secluded paradise is the best way to describe the Elounda Gulf. You can find this small boutique hotel on the north-eastern coast of Crete, in the village of Elounda, close to Agios Nikolaos. The hotel consists of just 10 individually designed suites and 14 villas, all of which have their own private pools. The swimming pools at the Elounda Gulf have to be one of the main attractions due to the panoramic views of the coastline, which I’m sure you’ll admit are particularly striking! The Elounda Gulf is ideal for those looking for a peaceful break in stunning surroundings who appreciate a personalised service.
Hopes Amerigo Hotel, Alicante
A 16th century converted convent, this hotel is traditional and beautiful and provides stunning views of the city of Alicante. Set in the ideal location of the historical area of Alicante, the hotel is close to all the sights of the city as well as being just a short stroll to the beach. The roof top swimming pool (covered in the colder months), is definitely worth a dip as you can get some fantastic views of the city, including Alicante Cathedral and the Santa Barbara Castle. High ceilings, large domed windows and silk paintings cover the hotel, making it a unique place to stay and ideal for a romantic break in Alicante.
Ajia Hotel, Istanbul
Another small one with only 16 rooms available, the Ajia is set in a very unique location resting on the Bosphorus (Istanbul Strait), with amazing views and excellent food. This is a family run hotel which was built in the 1800s. It certainly sticks to its traditional Ottoman roots with authentic decor and styling. If you want to explore Istanbul then the best way to do so is to catch a ride on the hotel’s private boat. The restaurant, which is open to the public (should you just want to visit the hotel for a day) has been awarded a five star diamond award and serves gourmet Mediterranean cuisine.
Michelangelo Resort and Spa, Kos
This large hotel is set in the Agios Fokas area of Kos overlooking the Aegean Sea, not far from the lively Kos Town. What makes this hotel unique are the fantastic views from the pool and bar area; there are 4 swimming pools, 3 of which have a Jacuzzi. It’s a very peaceful hotel and very suited for a relaxing break – of course helped by the beautiful backdrop!
Avalon Boutique Suites, Rhodes
What could be more unique than a medieval castle? This hotel is the smallest of the lot with only 6 rooms available to book. Each suite has its own living room and bedroom filled with medieval furniture and artefacts. The Avalon Boutique Suites is in the medieval part of Rhodes city, (hence the medieval theme) and is within close distance to all of the sights such as the Magisters Castle. Probably the most striking part of the hotel is the outside terrace, which has beautiful gardens and is an ideal setting for an evening meal, I’m not sure the above picture even does it justice.
So there you have it, just a few of the more unique hotels that we have available on the Travel Republic site to help you choose that perfect break!
